Speaking to The Telegraph this morning, Sony Interactive Entertainments head of European Business, Simon Rutter, stated that Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is actually “more akin to an expansion bolted on to an upgraded version of the original title”.
UPDATE – Insomniac have clarified the Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a “standalone game”. Jason Schreier has also confirmed the news, stating their source has clarified that the game is “similar in scope to Uncharted Lost Legacy”.

“I guess you could call it an expansion and an enhancement to the previous game,” he said.
“There’s a substantial Miles Morales component – which is the expansion element – but also within the game as well there’s been major enhancements to the game and the game engine, obviously deploying some of the major PlayStation 5 technology and features.”
It appears the game is also PlayStation 5 exclusive right now, however there’s no word on whether there’ll be an upgrade path for owners of the original game.
We’re also not sure if the game will include the original content remastered, or if the game simply takes place in the same world but with a completely new storyline.
Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales will launch this holiday, alongside the PlayStation 5 itself.
